Has Nicki Minaj Gone Too Far Biting Lil Kim’s Style?

The past tense of “I had bitches rockin’ the red, yellow and green wigs”—a Lil Kim lyric from “White Diamonds” back in 2000—may need to be updated.

Ten years since Kim spoke on her hip-hop trendsetting, the game’s new femme fatale Nicki Minaj hit 106 & Park yesterday with a new look to debut the video for her new single, “Massive Attack”.

Rocking a bright green wig (she also wears one in the video), skintight dress and platform heels, Nicki looks like the 2.0 version of Kim in 1997’s “Crush On You” (check the classic video below):

While predecessors like Remy Ma and Trina have given Nicki their co-sign, Kim’s silence on Nicki’s growing success perhaps is the most telling (and speaks the loudest).

Check out Nicki’s “Massive Attack” video (nymag.com described it as “a derivative of Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, and Beyoncé, with Amber Rose and a bunch of creepy-crawlies thrown in”):
