Solid steel mousepad – because you deserve it!

These mousepads are made of 1/8″ rolled steel, and the larger ones weigh four pounds. Take one to a LAN party; if you get owned, just start rage-bludgeoning! Every one is hand-made, and they claim the finishing method they use is perfect for laser-based mice. Sure! Hell, I’ll believe anything they say, because anyone who makes things out of solid steel is A-OK in my book.

They’re made by Greensforged, and there are several varieties. Are you a gravity gun whore in HL2DM? You’ll be wanting the Ravenholm. Are you a giant? Get the Hugepad. At $30-$50, they’re a bit more expensive than the average mousepad, but hey, the Vespula costs $35 and it’s not even close to solid steel!

Talk about a statement maker! I know T-Pain laid his $400,000 “Big Ass Chain” to rest, but he deserves this mockery.

The Brooklyn-based GoodWoodNYC brand is known for its innovative custom-made wooden jewelry and accessories.

You can cop rings in light or dark wood, pendants made of various exotic woods like zebrawood, lacewood, birch and more.

All designs are hand sanded, painted and lasered.

GoodWoodNYC just joined forces with Universal Motown and ThinkTank Marketing for a special venture to commemorate the release of Erykah Badu’s new album, New Amerykah Part 2: Return of the Ankh. Fans will have the opportunity to win a custom “Erykah Badu Ankh” jewelry piece (seen in the below image), designed exclusively by the masterminds of GoodWoodNYC.

The custom light-wood ankh measures slightly over two inches and hangs from a 30-inch long, beaded, dark-wood chain. Only 50 of these custom pieces were created for special online giveaways and will not be available for retail sale. More details to come!

OLPC and Pixel Qi, sitting in a tree, C-R-O-S-S-L-I-C-E-N-S-I-N-G

I tried a few ways of making that familiar playground taunt work syllable-wise, but it was not meant to be. Slightly more propitious is this agreement between the ambitious (but troubled) One Laptop Per Child initiative and Pixel Qi, maker of innovative hybrid displays. Pixel Qi’s sunlight-readable display technology (seen most recently in the Notion Ink Adam) was spun off more than two years ago, but they just couldn’t keep themselves apart. How romantic! I guess sometimes you just know you’re destined to be together.

The innovative, power-saving display will now be going into whatever the OLPC project comes up with next, be it a new version of the XO laptop or the rumored tablet.

Orange Exclusive: HTC Desire Black Edition

As if the HTC Desire wasn’t, well, desirable enough with its big bold screen and Sense UI. Now word is out that it will come in a sexy shade of black from Orange.

Orange UK has tweeted the news which is smart really for news on a phone with a range of widgets, including one dedicated to Twitter.

The regular Desire will reach the high streets early next month, and will come in metallic brown with a silver version also leaked but yet unconfirmed.

Orange’s exclusive black edition will be available in late April, so you’ll need to be a bit more patient to match your handbag.

The Black HTC Desire will still operate Android 2.1, which (amongst other things) provides more widget features and enhanced search capabilities.

It will also have the same 3.7 inch AMOLED touchscreen for more luminescent colours.

The phone will come with a 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, as well as a standard 3.5mm headphone jack for you to plug in your very own pair of Sennheisers.

Connectivity-wise, you get Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDSPA, GPA and A-GPS. There is also a microUSB port for easy file transfers.

Orange has been living up to its colourful name lately, also announcing it would exclusively offer the Sony Ericsson XPERIA 10 in “Luster White”.

Jennifer Lopez Headed To Def Jam

Jennifer Lopez has inked a new recording contract with Island Def Jam, with an official announcement expected to follow in the coming days, according to reports on Wednesday.

After more than a decade, the “Love Don’t Cost A Thing” singer split from her label home at Epic Records last month after her last two albums received a lukewarm reception from consumers.

JLo’s next album is expected to drop on Def Jam — headed by music mogul L.A. Reid. The label is already home to acts such as Justin Bieber, Amy Winehouse, Mariah Carey, and Rihanna.

iPad UK and International Launch Date: 23rd or 24th April 2010?

In the next few days, those of you who have put your pre-orders in for the iPad will shortly be receiving the device on Friday, when the iPad is released in the US. However, unlucky for us across the rest of the world, it has been rumoured that we will have to wait until the end of April before we are able to get our hands on the iPad.

We know that it is only a matter of time before Apple reveal a more official international release date, however then again who needs Apple when we have just come across some leaked information from a trusted source.

iPadinCanada tech blog, were contacted by a source with close ties to the Apple Store in Canada, in which this person stated that April 24th had been marked as a ‘black out period’ for staff, which would means that no employees are able to book this day off as holiday.

If that is the case that not only means that this could indeed be the launch date of iPad in Canada but given the speculation that internationally the iPad would be released at the end of April, this date make sense. However, the only problem I have with this leaked rumour is that fact the 24th falls on a Saturday, and usually the pattern for Apple products to be released fall on a Friday so instead are we looking at the 23rd of April? Either way, it would appear it won’t be long before we can get our hands on an iPad in the next couples of weeks in the UK.
