With Apple’s iPad hitting the high street late next month, Asus has decided this is a pretty good time to release its netbook-tablet hybrid, the Eee PC T101MT.
First seen at CES this year, the T101MT turned a few heads, including its own.
The 10 inch swivel screen on this device changes it form a tablet into a netbook at the twist of a wrist.
Intel GMA graphics and a screen res of 1024 x 600 pixels makes for decent viewing, while you take advantage of the supported multitouch capabilities.
There is even a front-mounted camera for video conferencing or mucking around on Skype, which is something the Apple iPad will lack.
Under the bonnet, you’ll find an Intel Atom N450 processor running at 1.66GHz along with 2GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD.
The T101MT will support WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, and will be packed with 3 USB ports and an SDHC card reader.
The new tablet / netbook will run Windows 7 Home Premium which includes touch input features.
The guys at Asus are also hard at work on a basic version of the T101MT that will support Windows 7 Starter Edition and will be stripped down to 1GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive.
Priced around £490, the T101MT looks like it will set you back a bit more than the entry-level iPad, which looks to have a price tag closer to the £400 mark.
Asus or Apple, which tablet would you buy? Leave us a comment and let us know.
